Robisky is a Cedar Falls, Iowa native who earned a degree in Interior Design from Iowa State University. After working as a commercial real estate agent in Los Angeles, California, Hoekstra decided to return to her roots and serve Siouxland on the residential side.

Mills is a graduate of Sioux City West High School and has management experience in the service industry. Both his parents and grandparents have been small business owners. He says that is what inspired him to get into real estate.

"While growing up in Sioux City they instilled the importance of community, relationships, and excellent customer service," said Mills. "Since navigating the real estate market can be a challenge, whether you are a first-time home buyer or selling your third property, I will work hard to find solutions for my clients and deliver results."

Looking for training and technology tools to better serve his clients, Mills recently made the switch to United Real Estate from another company.

The businesses of the United Center in downtown Sioux City joined forces for the 10^th year to bring awareness to the United Way of Siouxland's mission, while having a little fun at the same time. United Real Estate Solutions, CMBA Architects, Baird Wealth Management, along with Nichols, Rise & Company hosted a Cornhole Challenge on Wednesday, October 4^th. As these companies launch their United Way campaigns for the year, the leaders of these organizations have added this extra incentive for employees considering donations to the United Way of Siouxland. This year's Cornhole Challenge Championship involved one team from each company battling it out for the building's traveling trophy and individual prizes. The championship round followed warm up rounds between companies. Besides bragging rights, the winners of the championship also got the opportunity to throw the first of several pies in the face of their company's CEO. The day offered up some good laughs for a great cause. Application Deadline is July 1 for Iowa's Homestead Tax Exemption for Claimants 65 Years of Age or Older

Are you looking for ways to reduce your property taxes?

The Iowa Department of Revenue announced a Homestead Tax Exemption for Claimants 65 Years of Age or Older in a press release on May 15, 2023.

According to the release: Governor Reynolds signed House File 718, establishing a homestead tax exemption for claimants 65 years of age or older. In addition to the homestead tax credit, eligible claimants who own the home they live in and are 65 years of age or older on or before January 1 of the assessment year are now eligible for a homestead tax exemption. For the assessment year beginning on January 1, 2023, the exemption is for $3,250 of taxable value. For assessment years beginning on or after January 1, 2024, the exemption is for $6,500 of taxable value. An exemption is a reduction in the taxable value of the property rather than a direct reduction in the amount of property tax you pay.

The Iowa Department of Revenue has ammended the Homestead Tax Credit and Exemption (54-028) to allow claimants to apply for the new exemption. Applications are due July 1 to your local assessor. If the exemption is granted, the exemption will be allowed for future years without future filing as long as the claimant continues to qualify.

UNDERSTANDING HOW HOME MORTGAGE RATE CHANGES IMPACT THE HOUSING MARKET AND YOUR POCKETBOOK

After several years of historically low mortgage rates, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 5.00 percent for the first time in more than a decade according to mortgage loan company Freddie Mac. That is up nearly two percentage points from a year ago at this time. As of April 14, 2022, the 15-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 4.17 percent and the 5-year Treasury-indexed hybrid adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) averaged 3.69 percent.

Many potential homeowners are concerned how the rate increase may impact their buying power. A new quarterly forecast from Freddie Mac's Chief Economist predicts the single-family purchase market will remain solid in 2022 and that the overall housing market will remain a bright spot in the U.S. economy. Specifically, the findings predict the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage should average 4.6 percent in 2022 and 5.0 percent in 2023. In 2021, the 30-year averaged 3.0 percent.
